In these changing times and the consequences of the pandemic Mountain Wisdom has expanded our mission to provide help with essential needs for children and families.
Hawkeye Jay Zipperman director and founder of Mountain Wisdom has been a volunteer, a part of the Family Connection Collaborative for more than 24 years. As he attended on Zoom meetings with the collaborative lead by Tiffany Watson, Ashley Bramlett with Department of Family and Children Services, (DFCS) continued to bring up the need in the community for diapers and car seats.
As one of the new Mountain Wisdom Initiatives, Hawkeye Jay decided along with the help of Tiffany to create a Gilmer County Diaper and Car Seat Drive. Leave No Child Wet Behind!
People were encouraged to purchase diapers and drop them off at the downtown Ellijay Welcome Center. Or donate to Mountain Wisdom with 100 % of the funds collected going directly to purchasing diapers and car seats.
Robert Ferguson local singer/songwriter/pianist along with his wife Karleen who live in Ellijay provided a wonderful Holiday Season, free Facebook Live concert to raise funds for the cause as well. Robert’s talents and big heart was felt by all that participated.
Mountain Wisdom more than matched the funds collected and purchased diapers of a variety of sizes and high quality safe car seats.
Hawkeye Jay delivered to the Department of Family and Children Services (DFCS) more than 5,000 diapers. Enough diapers to supply 25 children for one month.
These diapers and car seats are being distributed to support moms in need and foster parents. The goal here is to give at least a little release of stress to these families.
Mountain Wisdom is a 501©3 organization committed to fostering healthy teens and families by providing fun filled transformational experiences and challenging outdoor adventures focusing on nature awareness and responsibility.
